Planning for fun activities with children can be challenging, especially if you have more than one and they have different interests. The good news is, around the Aberdeen, MD area, there are plenty of kid-friendly activities that everyone can enjoy. You can choose from great family-oriented parks to amazing hiking trails, or choose an indoor activity venue; everything within a reasonable distance from home. Here are our top choices!

1. Anita C. Leight Estuary Center

Our first pick is an amazing learning experience for all family members, only 30 minutes away from Aberdeen by car. Here, you can hike around the trails, or embark on a water adventure by going in a pontoon boat or canoe ride. If you love discovering wildlife, you can even become a volunteer for the day and participate in conservation and research activities guided by the Otter Point Creek Alliance.

2. FUNdamentals

Half an hour away from Aberdeen, on the town of Forest Hill, there’s a great place for the youngest of the family. Participate in a “Kiddie and Me” class with your toddler, or let them play at the fun kiddie gym. This place is also perfect for group activities and birthday parties, and they host family FUN nights open to parents and older siblings.  Visit FUNdamentals today!

3. Ice World

4. Rockfield Creative Playground

This one is just outside of Bel-Air, off of route 22. The playground offers sandboxes, slides, monkey bars, tunnels, and a separate area for the youngest kiddos. There are comfortable benches for adults to sit and talk while the little ones enjoy the place.

5. Plumpton Park Zoo

This zoo is about 30 minutes away from Aberdeen and is home to around 130 animals. At Plumpton park, you can see giant tortoises, camels, boas, and even tigers. They offer yearly family passes at very reasonable prices, and it’s a great place for birthday parties.
