The well-maintained parks in and around Aberdeen, MD, provide residents with sport and recreational activities, plenty of space, and beautiful picnic spots in shaded areas under mature trees. Here you can relax in the shade of the trees, barbecue, stroll down a beautiful wooden promenade and watch the kids run and play.

1. Festival Park

The beautiful park in downtown Aberdeen, with its huge circular lawn and walking and jogging path, is surrounded by mature trees and provides plenty of open space and shade. There are two playgrounds, and the large green lawn is ideal for throwing a frisbee, flying a kite, and kicking a ball. The park has lovely picnic spots with benches under the trees, a covered pavilion with electricity, and restrooms close by.

2. Victory Street Park

The park is the perfect place to take the kids for a few hours of outdoor fun. Pack a picnic basket, spread a blanket out under the trees, and watch the kids run and play. The colorful shaded playground between the trees has slides, swings, ramps, tunnels, and climbs to keep the little ones happy and excited. There is a large shaded grassy area where the kids can run around and play out of the sun and a basketball court.

3. Victory Street Dog Park

Take the family and your pets to the Victory Street Dog Park and watch your pooch run wild. The park is situated between tall trees with ample shade. Here your four-legged friend can run around in a fenced 1.3-acre area full of doggy exercise equipment. There are tunnels to explore, ramps to run over, and even fire hydrants against which he is more than welcome to lift his leg. The park has two designated fenced dog areas. One is for small fluffy barkers and one for large breeds. Each area has a community dog toy bin.

4. Millard Tydings Memorial Park

Just five miles away in Havre de Grace, the scenic eight-acre Millard Tydings Memorial Park provides panoramic views of the Susquehanna River and the Havre de Grace Yacht Basin. The park also gives visitors access to the beautiful wooded promenade that runs along the waterfront and leads to a fishing pier with spectacular views along the way. There are picnic areas, a pavilion, and restroom facilities.

5. The Perryville Community Park

Approximately nine miles away in Perryville, the 168-acre Perryville Community Park is a beautiful tree-lined green space surrounded by water. Bring your fishing tackle and fish from the pier and enjoy a picnic at one of the scenic spots under the trees. Here you can play tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. There are horseshoe pits, a playground, and pavilions with grills for barbecues. Bring your own water as there is no water or electricity available in the park.
